Maranda High School in Siaya County will reopen this weekend for Form Four students following an indefinite closure caused by student unrest.

According to a directive from the Chief Principal, Edwin Namachanja and the Board of Management (BOM), the re-admission will be strictly phased over two days, June 5 and June 6, 2026 and all students must arrive by 10.00 am while accompanied by a parent or guardian.

The school has tied re-entry to strict financial conditions, and parents are required to clear all outstanding school fee arrears and pay a mandatory damage restitution fee of Ksh.2,695 per student before admission.

The administration also announced a recovery package for 192 Form Four students residing in the “Owino B” dormitory, which suffered extensive damage during the riots.

The school will provide these specific students with replacement essentials, including full school uniforms (excluding games attire), shoes, mattresses, blankets, and bedsheets.

Parents of the affected Owino B students are only required to supply basic personal hygiene items and replacement metal boxes if theirs were destroyed.
