Mark Mwenje, Member of Parliament for Embakasi West, has now stated that his life is in danger.
The lawmaker has now requested that the Inspector General of Police, Japheth Koome, and the National Assembly Speaker, Moses Wetangula, intervene to ensure his safety.
The claim comes just days after Mr Eric Ojwang, the lawmaker’s bodyguard, allegedly shot and injured two people at the Embakasi West Constituency Development Funds (CDF) offices.
The shooting occurred amid rumours of a rift between Mr Mwenje and his predecessor, George Theuri.
“All I would like to say for now is that my life is in danger and this is the second time such a thing is taking place here. Someone is sending armed youth to my functions,” Mr Mwenje said.
Already, the MP has made a statement at the Buruburu Police Station, in which he expressed his concerns and stated that he wanted greater security as well.
The bodyguard was arraigned in a Madaraka Law court on Thursday, April 6, 2023, but police officials were allowed to keep him for another 14 days.
He was released on Sh100,000 cash bail by the court.
Kamkunji Sub-County former Embakasi West MP George Theuri reported a disruption at the Constituency Development Funds (CDF) offices in Umoja one in a police report filed at Buruburu Police Station.
