President Uhuru Kenyatta said Azimio deputy presidential candidate Martha Karua will jail land grabbers and graft suspects when the Azimio brigade ascends to power after the August polls.
Uhuru while touring Nairobi County when he commissioned government projects on Tuesday heaped praise on Ms. Karua, saying she is a consummate leader who will fight corruption in the next administration should they get elected.
Kenyatta admitted that during his tenure, he was soft on corrupt politicians but promised Kenyans that Martha Karua if elected as the Deputy President come August 9, will not go easy on anyone.
“Martha is a lady who doesn’t joke, and I am very sure she will not give all these corrupt leaders and looters a chance. They will be languishing in the cells, she is not like me who forgave them, Karua cannot forgive them,” he said.
Karua’s role as a High Court advocate, as well as her four-year stint as Minister for Justice, National Cohesion, and Constitutional Affairs during the late Mwai Kibaki’s administration, was cited by the President as justification for her tenacity and love of justice.
The President further reiterated his support for Raila and Karua, saying he has identified the perfect duo to continue with the development that he started.
“They (Raila and Karua) are the ones who will be able to continue with this job for us to ensure we have a country that is being led in a just manner, the right way and in a way that solves citizens’ problems,” he added.
Uhuru further threw jibes at his Deputy, Dr William Ruto and the Kenya Kwanza faction as a whole, describing them as a group of politicians that focus only on “insults.”
“I see the path of Raila and Karua as the best one for Kenya. Truth be told. The other camp is just empty talk and insults. When they go to meetings, they are preoccupied with me yet I am not contesting,” he added.
Uhuru told off critics telling him to complete his term and leave, saying he is going nowhere.
“I’m here to stay. They keep telling me to finish and go, where will I go? I am here to stay. I won’t go to Somalia,” he said.
