Effective this month, the entry fees for foreign tourists visiting the Masai Mara Reserve have doubled.

Adults over the age of 18 are now required to pay Ksh 26,500 (USD 200) to access the park, a significant increase from the previous rate of Ksh 13,250 (USD 100) charged between January and June this year.

“Narok County Government has confirmed that the Masai Mara Park Fees for 2024 will be increased to USD 100 per non-resident adult per day from January 1, 2024, to June 30, 2024, and USD 200 per non-resident adult per day, from July 1, 2024, onwards,” the tourist site announced.

For foreign children aged between nine and 17 years, the entry fee is now Ksh6,625 (USD 50), while children aged eight and below can enter the park for free.

The revised policy also includes a 12-hour ticket validity, requiring guests staying outside the reserve to pay a daily entry fee valid from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Additionally, guests departing by road must exit by 10 a.m., or face an additional entry fee.

Meanwhile, Kenyan adults will continue paying Ksh3,000, with children and students charged Ksh1,000. Local residents from Narok County have their rates set at Ksh2,000 for adults and Ksh500 for children above 10 years.

These changes align with the Maasai Mara Management Plan, Greater Masai Mara Ecosystem Management Plan, and the County Government of Narok Physical & Land Use Development Plan.
