Matano Makes U-Turn On Leaving Tusker FC

The veteran tactician stunned the football community when he announced his departure from the Brewers

Tusker FC head coach Robert Matano has reversed his position and now insists that he will leave the Brewers despite declaring his intention to leave the club two weeks ago.

The veteran tactician stunned the football community when he announced his departure from the Brewers just minutes after winning the championship against Posta Rangers at the Ruaraka grounds.

He cited disrespect from one of the office bearers as the reason for his decision to resign.

“I have received this title with a lot of mixed feelings. I thank my players very much because they protected me. If it was not for them, I would not be here today. This is a team I have struggled with but I do not think that I will be here anymore because I am not respected. There is somebody that does not need me in the team and I am not happy with that,”

However, in a total change of heart, the tactician says the issues he raised are now water under the bridge and that he will continue with the club.

“I wasn’t happy and I expressed myself in an angry manner but that is in the past all is well now and I am ready to continue with my duties at Tusker Fc because is still have a contract with them.”

Robert Matano is Kenya’s most successful active coach. He has won four league titles and two FA Cups.

League with Sofapaka in 2009, Leagues with Tusker FC in 2012, 2021, and 2022, World Hope FC, now Nairobi City Stars, won the FA Cup in 2005 and with AFC Leopards won the FA Cup in 2017.
