Matatu Collides with Lorry on Thika-Garissa Highway, Leaving Two Injured

A serious accident on the Thika-Garissa Highway has left two passengers in critical condition following a collision involving a Kinatwa Prestige matatu and a lorry.

The incident occurred near Mukalala, close to Sofia Market, adding to a growing trend of tragic road accidents in Kenya during the festive season.

Eyewitnesses reported that the speeding matatu, narrowly avoided a head-on collision with an oncoming vehicle before crashing into the rear of a moving lorry.

The violent impact mangled the front of the matatu, resulting in chaotic scenes as bystanders rushed to rescue those trapped inside.

Victims were quickly transported to Matuu Level Four Hospital, where medical personnel are working tirelessly to save the lives of the injured passengers.

The accident marks another heartbreaking chapter in a series of road tragedies involving Kinatwa Prestige matatus in the past week.

Just three days earlier, a horrific accident involving the same matatu sacco occurred at Kisasi Market in Kitui Rural, claiming three lives in a devastating head-on collision between a 15-seater matatu and a TukTuk.

These incidents highlight the urgent need for improved road safety measures and stricter enforcement of traffic regulations, particularly on dangerous routes like the Kitui-Kibwezi Road, which has seen a troubling number of fatalities in recent months.
