Former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i held a consultative meeting with a section of former Jubilee Party Members of Parliament on Tuesday as part of his broader strategy to consolidate political support ahead of the 2027 general elections.
In a statement by Jubilee Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni, the consultative forum reflected on the party’s journey since leaving power and laid the ground for a decisive National Delegates Conference (NDC) scheduled for Friday, September 26, 2025, at the Ngong Racecourse.
“This gathering is more than preparation, it is a reaffirmation of our commitment to unity, renewal, and a politics defined by purpose. Jubilee’s story is still being written, and together we move,” he said.
The closed-door session, described as strategic and issue-driven, focused on party coordination, national unity, and the formation of a credible political platform to challenge for the presidency.
The meeting is part of an ongoing series of engagements Dr. Matiang’i has been conducting with political allies, opinion leaders, and grassroots mobilisers.

On May 2, 2025, during a public rally at Gusii Stadium, he formally announced his decision to contest for the presidency in the 2027 elections.

“I have heard you, and I have listened carefully. After long reflection and many conversations with Kenyans from all walks of life, I have decided to offer myself for the leadership of this nation,” Matiang’i told the crowd during the Gusii Stadium rally.
His entry into the 2027 race adds a new dimension to the emerging political landscape, particularly within the opposition.
With a background in education reform and internal security, Matiang’i is expected to frame his campaign around governance, service delivery, institutional accountability, and national cohesion.
