Hustler Nation has mounted heavy shelling against Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr. Fred Matiang’i.
The super-CS got himself a target after President Uhuru Kenyatta made him in charge of all other ministries. Substantively becoming as powerful as the deputy President so to speak.
Knowing the consequences of attacking a sitting president, DP Ruto’s allies have turned their warfare to CS Matiang’i.
Why is Matiang’i under siege?
1. He is the de-facto Deputy President. – By proximity to power, President Kenyatta and the deep state, CS Matiang’i is akin to a sitting Deputy President. Since he took over a big chunk of DP Ruto’s duties, Matiang’i has become an enemy to those campaigning for Ruto.
2. He has herded the Abagusii votes to ONE basket. For Azimio Raila. – In the infamous Abagusii declaration at Nyamira, CS Matiang’i chastised Kisii leaders trailing the deputy president. He accused the second in command of hypocrisy while campaigning for his State House bid.
3. He is eloquent. Intelligent. And has sneered at DP Ruto eyeball to eyeball. CS Matiang’i has been scratching at DP Ruto’s bark; from the infamous heavy police presence at his properties to claiming the second in command was always complaining over legal processes.
4. He is the punching bag for the frustrated DP who cannot directly hit Uhuru. – Opting out of a bitter fallout, DP Ruto has gone village to village announcing how Matiang’i stole his shine after the handshake.
5. He is peerless and fearless in the execution of Performance Contract targets spelt out by the President.
6. He quickly adapts to his environment, much to the chagrin of the wheelbarrow
