Evans Michori, the main suspect in the multiple murder cases in Mawanga area in Nakuru has been detained for 14 days.
The verdict was delivered by Nakuru Senior Principal Magistrate Charles Ndegwa and will see Michori remain behind bars till probe into the killings is completed.
The suspect was arrested on Thursday afternoon at his hideout in Keroka, Kisii County.
After his arrest, Michori named Julius Otieno, 27, Josphat Simiyu, 24, Dennis Mmbolo, 25, Isaac Kinyanjui, 18, and Makhoha Wanjala, 25 as his accomplices.
Nakuru County Criminal Investigations Officer Anthony Sunguti had earlier said that the suspects are believed to be behind the murder of at least four women within Nakuru between December 2021 and June 2022.
The murders targeted women, whose bodies were found burnt inside their home. The crimes are said to have been committed during the day.
Families of the 5 suspects named by Michori have since come out to deny claims of being involved in the murders.
The families said that the main suspect, Evans Michori, implicated the five young men to seek revenge as they had helped residents arrest him after a robbery incident.
