ODM Chairperson John Mbadi has dropped out of Homabay County gubernatorial bid to focus on Raila Odinga presidential campaign.
In a statement issued on Monday, the National Assembly minority leader stated that, while it was difficult to withdraw from the gubernatorial race, he did so because of his unwavering commitment to the party, his desire for national growth and stability, and his support for his party’s presidential candidate, Raila Odinga.
“In the interest of these, I have today withdrawn my bid from the Homabay County gubernatorial race. I will therefore henceforth place more effort in the Azimio presidential bid and the nationwide bid to have ODM secure as many seats as possible,” said Mbadi.
Mbadi’s decision comes after it was revealed that the ODM party has decided to hand out tickets to the most popular candidates rather than subject them to primaries.
