The Independent Electoral & Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has announced 26th of February 2026 as By-Election Day for Embu, Kakamega & Isiolo Counties following vacancies in one parliamentary & three county assembly positions.
Through a Gazete Notice, the IEBC says that the mini polls will fill the the position of Isiolo South Constituency MP seat which fell vacant following the death of area MP Mohammed Tubi. He was elected on Jubilee Party ticket.
The three County Assembly seats fell vacant after the resignation of incumbent area MCAs to contest for Parliamentary Positions in the just concluded 27th November by-elections.
In Mbeere North, the Muminji Ward MCA Newton Karish & Evurore Ward Duncan Mbui Resigned to vie for hotly contested Parliamentary seat which Wamuthende successfully defeated them.

In Kabras West, Kakamega County, David Ndakwa resigned and Successfully Contested for Malava parliamentary seat on UDA ticket.
Political parties intending to participate in the polls are required to submit their party primaries’ details by 2nd of January 2026 upon which IEBC shall Gazete the names of party candidates and those vying on independent tickets within seven days.
The IEBC has stated that the campaigns will run from 22nd January to 23rd of February and restricted from 7 a.m to 6 p.m.
The By-elections will be conducted in accordance with the Elections Act, Leadership and Integrity Act as well as the Chapter Six of the Constitution.
