Medvedev Says European Leaders Failed to Outplay Trump Amid Ukraine Talks

Former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev said on Tuesday that European leaders had failed to outmaneuver U.S. President Donald Trump, while expressing uncertainty over how Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy will approach discussions on territory and security guarantees.

“The anti-Russian warmongering Coalition of the Willing failed to outplay @POTUS on his turf,” Medvedev wrote in English on X, adding that “Europe thanked & sucked up to him.” He questioned “what tune” Zelenskyy would play “about guarantees & territories back home, once he’s put on his green military uniform again.”

The remarks came a day after Trump told Zelenskyy that the United States would help guarantee Ukraine’s security in any deal to end the ongoing conflict. The specifics of U.S. assistance, however, remain unclear.

Medvedev’s comments underscore ongoing tensions over international responses to the war in Ukraine and reflect Russia’s continued scrutiny of Western diplomatic coordination.
