The Duchess of Sussex made a rare public appearance at Paris Fashion Week on Saturday, attending the Balenciaga show to support her friend and the fashion house’s new creative director, Pierpaolo Piccioli.
It marked Meghan’s first appearance at the high-profile event in over a decade. She was photographed greeting Vogue’s global editorial director Anna Wintour and filmmaker Baz Luhrmann at the star-studded gathering.
The duchess, 44, announced her arrival in the French capital with an Instagram story showing her en route to the show through the streets of Paris.
She wore a crisp white outfit featuring wide-leg trousers and a matching blazer from Balenciaga’s new collection, paired with black pointed heels and a slicked-back hairstyle. Later in the evening, she was seen in a sleek black dress accessorised with gold jewellery.
A spokesman for Meghan said her attendance reflected “her support for Pierpaolo’s new creative chapter,” adding that the pair have “collaborated on design for key moments on the world stage” and share a long-standing creative friendship.
“Meghan has long admired his craftsmanship and modern elegance, and tonight was no different,” the spokesman added.
Paris Fashion Week, which runs until Tuesday, includes presentations from luxury brands such as Louis Vuitton, Dior, Chanel and Hermès.
Meghan, a former actress best known for the television drama Suits, has become increasingly involved in the fashion world. Earlier this year, she launched a digital lifestyle platform featuring her favourite clothing, accessories and jewellery recommendations.
The Duchess and her husband, Prince Harry, live in Montecito, California, with their two children, Archie and Lilibet. Meghan’s last visit to the UK was in 2022 for Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral, while Harry has returned several times for court hearings and charitable engagements.
