Meru Governor Kawira Mwangaza Calls Meeting With MCAs Amid Crisis

Meru Governor Kawira Mwangaza called a consultative meeting of all elected and nominated leaders on Thursday, ostensibly to end the feud between her and the MCAs.

All MCAs and MPs led by their chair Dr. Mutunga Kanyuithia have been invited, as has Senator Kathuri Murungi who is also the Deputy Speaker.

The meeting will begin at 9.00 a.m. in the governor’s residence boardroom.

In a letter dated 31st October 2022, Ms. Mwangaza says she is ready to discuss the issues raised by Members of the County Assembly.

“Key among the causes of these misunderstandings is the Ward Fund, an issue that was captured in my maiden speech to the county assembly on Wednesday, 19th October 2022 and even now I am ready to discuss it with the Honourable Members of the County Assembly on its management and come up with a workable solution,” she states.

This comes after the council of governors chairperson, Anne Waiguru, organized a meeting between the Meru governor and the county assembly leadership led by Hon. Speaker Ayub Bundi Solomon on Friday to try and resolve the stalement.
