Meru Governor Mwangaza Flags Off 200,000 Fruit Tree Seedlings

Mer county governor Kawira Mwangaza on Monday 21, flagged off more than 200,000 fruit tree seedlings, in an initiative dubbed ‘Adopt a Hill/Tree’ – under the Mwangaza wa Mazingira.

According to Mwangaza, this will work in line with President William Ruto’s plan to plant over 5 billion trees in 5years.

“This is a youth-by-the-youth project, through the MYS and My office. This initiative will go ahead to provide over 6000 youths with jobs, where each will be paid Ksh 500 per day,” the governor stated.

The seedlings will be planted in schools and churches around Meru county and also on hills that are treeless in order to better the environment and also provide good nutrition for the children.
