Migori Governor Ochilo Ayacko has condemned the manner in which the police conducted themselves in the three days of demonstrations against the Kenya Kwanza administration.
The Governor said that the police brutalised many people and meted injuries on them as they exercised their democratic rights and one person was shot dead yesterday during the protests.
The Governor said that the County Government will take care of the medical expenses of those injured and also offset the funeral expenses of the dead and called upon the residents to exercise their democratic rights peacefully.
He however commended the residents for not destroying any property at all and called for calm as they mourn and nurse the injured in the three days protests.
At the same time, the family of the slain 19 years old boy from Nyamware village is seeking justice for the slain teenager who was shot yesterday evening at Total area on the outskirts of Migori town during the demonstration.
The family spokesperson Victor Osumba said that they are surprised and saddened by the manner in which the police shot the boy from the back as he was alleged to be running away after doing his casual labours in Oruba estate.
The family claims that the teenager was not among the demonstrators as he was alleged to have been coming from his usual hustles in town and was caught in the thick of the protests.
