Migori: Youth Group Ventures In Pawpaw Farming

A youth group in Nyamotiro village Migori County has taken up pawpaw farming as aims to capitalise on the need of pawpaw fruits in Kuria East Sub County.

The group led by Peter Chacha and Paul Mwita said that there is potential in pawpaw fruit farming that makes it a lucrative business venture for the youths in the future.

The youths under the Kuria Association for Networking Agribusiness, Agroforest and Nutrition[KANAN said that they started the farm with 2000 pawpaw stems and have benefitted a lot.

They said that they started the venture after realising that there was less pawpaw farming in Kuria East and also most homes did not have pawpaw fruits in their homes and compounds.

They want the national Government and the County department of agriculture to boost their pawpaw agribusiness venture so that they can do more pawpaw farming in the farms in Kuria East that lie untilled for many years.
