Migos: Former Machogu Running Mate Takes Over Education Docket

President William Ruto has nominated Julius Migos Ogamba, former gubernatorial running mate and current KenGen Chairman, as his successor at the Education Ministry. The nomination is subject to approval by Parliament.

Ogamba, a seasoned lawyer with nearly 30 years of experience, was the running mate to Ezekiel Machogu in the 2022 Kisii gubernatorial race on the UDA party ticket. The duo lost. Machogu joined the Cabinet, while Ogamba joined KenGen as a chairman.

Before his appointment at KenGen, Ogamba had a distinguished career in law, providing legal advice to a diverse range of clients across various industries.

He boasts an impressive educational background, holding a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Nairobi, a Post Graduate Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law, and a Diploma in Law from the Institute of Advanced Legal Studies at the University of London.

As a senior partner at Migos Ogamba & Waudo Advocates, Ogamba is also a Commissioner for Oaths and Notary Public, as well as a member of the Kenya Law Society.

His experience in counselling clients, performing legal research, preparing legal documents, and representing clients in criminal and civil court proceedings will be invaluable in his new role at the Education Ministry.

The nomination is now pending approval by Parliament, with lawmakers expected to scrutinize Ogamba’s qualifications and suitability for the role. If approved, Ogamba will take over from his predecessor, pending further announcement by the President.
