There was drama in court after a man charged with threatening to kill cries profusely in front of magistrate Bernard Ochoi after being sentenced to strict bail terms.
Thadeus Moiti Kolotongi was arraigned in Milimani Law Courts on charges of threatening to kill in violation of the law.
According to the charges, the accused sent Brigid Khadiagala a threatening text message threatening to kill Timothy Atsango.
”…haina shida bora tu asubuhi ifike kwisha hutakua na la kusema aki sio uongo unadhani nko na joke sawa tu haina shida na lazima principal atanipea mtoto na utakuja kushangaa hata nitaendesha katikati ya barabara na ukuje utuxike ufuruhie vile umefurai sai for sure acha utaona basi naona uko na furaha saaaana…” read the message.
In the text message, the accused threatens his wife that he will pick up his son from school and commit suicide with him by driving recklessly in the middle of the road.
The accused denied the charges and was released on bond of Ksh 300,000 with an alternative cash bail of Ksh 100,000.
This prompted him to sob aloud in front of the magistrate, explaining that he forwarded the text under extreme stress and that his wife, the complainant in the case, had been stressing him out. He then asked the court for forgiveness.
The court, prompted by the accused person’s submission, ordered that probation officers prepare a bail report for the accused person, to be presented on July 12, 2022.
