Defence Forces troops serving under Operation Fagia Msitu (OFM), a Multi-Agency security operation in Boni enclave have completed the construction of a water pan for the residents of Garbasalo in Hulugho Sub- County of Garissa County. – KDF
The water pan will serve over 600 households who previously walked for over 5km in search of water for domestic use.
The water pan with an estimated capacity of 25,000 cubic meters a depth of 3m is expected to collect and reserve water during October rains.
The community through the area MP, Hon Sophia Abdi, requested KDF’s support in the construction of the water source.

The construction started last month with the community providing manual labor, area MP facilitated with two tippers and fuel, Hulugho Sub- County water Engineer supervised the project while KDF provided an excavator and backhoe, skilled labor and security.
Residents applauded KDF for being a friend in need, who selflessly supported their livelihoods while continuously protecting them from the threat of Al Shabaab.
This is one of the many Civilian-Military Cooperation projects that troops operating within the Boni enclave under OFM have continued to undertake to address the community needs.
Currently, OFM is rehabilitating 5 underground water tanks (Jabias) for the Ishakani community in KIUNGA ward.
