Ministry of Environment Eager To Realise the Planting of 500 Million Trees by the End of December

The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change is mobilising seedlings from partners, including the corporate sector, as the nation welcomes the brief rainy season to help the nation reach its goal of planting 500 million trees by the end of December.

This morning, Standard Chartered Bank and the Nairobi Arboretum Community Forest Association (CFA) donated 450,000 seedlings for the regreening of Nairobi City County’s green spaces and infrastructural wayleaves. The donation was accepted by Cabinet Secretary Hon. Soipan Tuya.    One million additional seedlings will be donated, according to the agreement.

The Ministry welcomes seedling donations and direct involvement from partners and Kenyans in tree-growing initiatives around the nation as we quicken our progress towards the goal of 15 billion trees.

The Cabinet Secretary, who was accompanied by Forestry Principal Secretary Mr Gitonga Mugambi, was received at Nairobi Arboretum by Westlands Deputy County Commissioner Mr Mwai Gicheru.
