Ministry Of Lands To Begin Digitization Of Title Deeds In Mombasa

The Ministry of Lands begins the process of digitizing and amending title deeds in Mombasa County.

Mombasa Governor Abdulswamad Nassir met with Lands Principal Secretary Nixon Korir on Wednesday and agreed to form a technical committee to oversee the process.

According to Korir, the Ministry has previously struggled to implement the procedure owing to County Government resistance.

“We have completed digitization for Nairobi and the second County that we wanted to start working on was Muranga but because of your initiative we will simultaneously work on Mombasa,” Korir said.

According to the Lands PS, the government would also train and assist the County Government in using Ardhisasa, an online gateway for maintaining and obtaining land management information.

He stated that having access to the Ardhisasa database will help the County Government with planning, income collection, and combatting forgeries and other types of land theft.

Governor Nassir stated that despite Mombasa’s size, the County has just 42,000 title deeds in its archives, which is why the County want to partner with the National Government in the digitization process.

The governor stated that digitizing land titles will benefit both the Mombasa County Government and property owners in assessment processes.
