National Assembly Minority Leader, Junet Mohamed, has questioned the motive behind Public Service CS, Justin Muturi’s, recent statement linking the National Intelligence Service (NIS) to the abduction of his son.
Muturi claimed that his son was released after he pleaded with President William Ruto to intervene.
During Parliamentary Proceedings, Junet Mohamed expressed concerns over the delay in Muturi’s announcement, stating that he waited seven months to point fingers at state agencies after his son’s release.
“Why do you wait for seven months to speak? Why can’t you discuss things at that level with the people who are concerned?” he posed.
Junet also called on Muturi to resign if his views no longer align with the government’s agenda.
“Public service is a calling and you should do it so long as you have been given an opportunity. When you feel that your belief is not compatible with the government you’re serving, the best thing is to resign.”
In his remarks, Junet also addressed three CS nominees: Mutahi Kagwe (Agriculture), Lee Kinyanjui (Trade), and William Kabogo (ICT). He emphasized the need for them to serve all Kenyans diligently without discrimination, stating, “Serve all Kenyans irrespective of their regions.”
The Minority Leader also insinuated that former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s focus was mainly on a particular region.
“There’s a senior chief meeting people in Wamunyoro; he’s a local chief meeting people there. To the CSs, serve all Kenyans.”
