The family of Mr. Ndiangui Kinyagia, who was reported missing last week, has confirmed that he is alive, safe, and in good health. In an official statement released Thursday morning by his legal counsel, Wahome Thuku, the family revealed that Mr. Kinyagia contacted them on Tuesday evening from an undisclosed location.
According to the statement, Mr. Kinyagia went into hiding after learning that officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) were looking for him in connection with unspecified criminal allegations. He reportedly feared for his safety and chose to go into seclusion.
Mr. Kinyagia has now expressed his willingness to cooperate with authorities and present himself to the DCI and the courts, provided his safety is guaranteed. His legal team has advised him to appear before the High Court at Milimani Law Courts today, Thursday, July 3, 2025, at 11:00 a.m.
The Law Society of Kenya (LSK) has been formally notified to observe and assist with legal proceedings.
The statement also accuses DCI officers of forcefully entering Mr. Kinyagia’s home in his absence and confiscating several personal items. The incident was reported to Kinoo Police Station, where a formal complaint was lodged by the family.
Mr. Kinyagia’s family extended their gratitude to Kenyans at home and abroad for their support during the period of uncertainty, expressing hope that justice will prevail as the matter unfolds.
