A 13-year-old girl who went missing from the Waterfront Mall in Karen last month has been reunited with her family after a nationwide appeal aired by Citizen TV.
Rahab Njoki Njuguna was found on Saturday morning in a frail state, ending weeks of anxiety for her relatives. Officers from Karen Police Station, together with her mother, took her to hospital for medical evaluation as investigations into her disappearance continue.
Police say Rahab vanished on the seventh of last month after she was last captured on CCTV footage at the mall. The footage showed her walking calmly with another girl and a young man. Moments later, several other boys joined them, none of whom were recognised by her family. Shortly after, Rahab was seen leaving the mall beside the same man, and she was not seen again until her recovery.
A friend who had been with her that day told police the young man seemed agitated and had threatened her before walking away with Rahab. Detectives are now pursuing leads to identify and arrest those involved.
Her disappearance had sparked growing concern among residents of Karen and beyond, with family members appealing for information through local media and social networks.
Authorities have yet to reveal where Rahab was found, citing ongoing investigations, but confirmed that she is safe and receiving care. The incident has renewed calls for tighter security and child protection measures in public spaces, particularly around shopping malls and entertainment centres that attract young people.
Police have urged parents to remain vigilant and report suspicious behaviour involving minors, as efforts continue to track down those responsible for Rahab’s abduction.
