Dr. Johansen Oduor, the chief government pathologist has confirmed that Sylvia Kemunto, a first-year student at Multimedia University died as a result of strangulation after being hit with a blunt object.
According to Dr. Oduor, the late 20-year-old Sylvia had multiple injuries on the head and on the lower and upper limps which she sustained during the murder.
She also had injuries on the neck proving that she suffocated after being strangled by her killer.
Dr. Oduor clarified that in his observation, Sylvia was not pregnant at the time of her death.

He also confirmed that there was no evidence of drowning meaning that Sylvia was already dead by the time her body was dumped into the water tank at the fourth floor of a building at Multimedia University.
So far, a primary suspect in the murder, a 19-year-old student at the same university is in police custody after a Senior Principal Magistrate, Zainab Abdul yesterday ordered his detention for 21 days pending investigations and subsequent directions from the Director of Public Prosecutions.
The suspect, Erick Mutinda is said to have surrendered himself to a police station at Makueni County after learning that the sleuths were tracking him.
