Embu County hosted the 60th Madaraka Day celebrations at the freshly renovated 20,000-capacity Moi Stadium.
Residents braved the morning chill to swarm the facility in order to obtain seats for the event.
The stadium was completed in approximately 15 weeks, setting a new standard for significant building projects.

Ababu Namwamba, Cabinet Secretary for Sports, said that the renovation cost the government Ksh476 million.
“We are very pleased with how this project was completed in a record 15 weeks for Ksh476 million.” “We were able to completely transform the appearance of this facility,” Ababu said.
The Madaraka Day Celebration venue was shifted from Njukiri ASK Showground to Moi Stadium due to the delay and cost of constructing a new stadium in Njukiri, Embu.
