A middle-aged man claiming to be an alumnus of Moi University found himself on the wrong side of the Law after he tried securing a loan from Finance Bank Limited using a fake degree certificate.
Gerald Lumuchele is said to have walked into Finance Bank limited on June ,2022 with a second-class upper division degree in Computer Science certificate serial 372236 purporting it to be genuine and issued by Moi University.
Searching for the said serial number in the certificate confirmed that the certificate does not appear in the University database.
Further, he was charged with forging the Moi University Degree certificate of Bachelor of Science, second class honours, Upper division serial number 372236 dated December 17, 2022.
He denied particulars of the charges before SPM Bernard Ochoi of Milimani Law courts.
The court released him on a bond of Ksh 200,000 with an alternative cash bail of Ksh 100,000. The case will be mentioned on November 17, 2022, for pretrial.
