Moi’s wellbeing a great concern for Kenyans amid speculations of admission at a city hospital.

President Daniel Arap Moi’s health has generated great concerns among Kenyans and for good reasons. Moi ruled Kenya for a period of 24 years.

During the period, the ever active and strong Moi developed very close ties with Kenyans and was loved and loathed in equal measure.

Since his retirement, Moi has maintained a low profile including public appearances but this still cannot stop Kenyans from having concerns on their former president’s wellbeing.

Well, there have been speculations that former President Moi was hospitalized at the Nairobi Hospital on Saturday.

According to a report by a local daily, a family member dismissed the speculations saying it is not true. However, former Press Secretary Lee Njiru said Moi visited the Nairobi hospital for a routine checkup. He affirmed that it is normal and advisable for everyone to go for a medical checkup which the former president did.

In the same report, a family source alluded that Moi developed breathing complications on Saturday and was rushed to hospital where he underwent a procedure and was feeling much better and was removed from a life-support machine.

Mr Njiru said that the Moi’s physician Dr. David Silverstein, will determine how long he will stay at the hospital.

 President Moi has undergone various treatments regarding his health outside the country and is still pushing on strong at the age of 95 years.
