A tragic incident occurred on Saturday in Likoni, Mombasa County, where a 19-year-old man, identified as Mwandia Mwatela, fell off the Dongo Kundu bridge and drowned in the Indian Ocean.
According to the police, the accident happened around 6 p.m. when Mwatela was attempting to cross to the other side of the unused lane of the elevated highway.
Unfortunately, he fell through an incomplete section of the bridge and plunged into the ocean below.
The Officer Commanding Station (OCS) from Vijiweni Police Station reported the incident, confirming that police and officers from the Coast Guard team were actively searching for Mwatela’s body at the time of the report.
