Mombasa Man Jailed For Vandalizing SGR

A Mombasa court sentenced a man to two years in prison for stealing an SGR metallic pole worth Sh30,000.

Ali Badi Chumvi alias Swaleh Hussein pleaded guilty and admitted to previously being imprisoned for 8 months for vandalizing and stealing SGR line.

While reading the sentence, Justice Mutuku stated that the man’s actions put the SGR’s safety at risk and that he was not remorseful.

Boniface Ngonda, Hussein’s co-accused, pleaded not guilty and was released on Sh200k bond with one surety and an alternative Sh100k cash bail.

The case will be mentioned for pre-trial on November 29, 2022.
