Monica Juma, Chelugui Survive Ruto’s Axe

    President William Ruto retained immediate former Energy and Petroleum Cabinet Secretary Monica Juma in his government as he named the new Cabinet Secretaries on Tuesday.

    Juma, who previously served as Defense Cabinet Secretary, will now serve as National Security Advisor in the new administration.

    Between January 2016 and February 2018, she worked as the Principal Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA).

    President Ruto said she will serve at the Cabinet level alongside Attorney General and Secretary to the Cabinet nominees Justin Muturi and Mercy Wanjau respectively.

    Also retained is outgoing Labour and Social Protection Cabinet Secretary (CS) Simon Chelugui who was nominated on Tuesday, September 27 as the new CS for Cooperatives and Micro, Small & Medium Size Enterprises (MSMEs) pending approval by the National Assembly.

    Davis Chirchir has taken over Juma’s energy docket, while Florence Bore has replaced Chelugui on the Labour docket.
