One of the witnesses in the Monica Kimani murder case, Brian Kasaine, told the High Court that Joseph Irungu, the murder suspect, shot himself after an altercation with co-accused Jacque Maribe.
According to Kasaine, who testified before Justice Grace Nzioka, Jowie seemed troubled days after Monica Kimani’s death was announced.
Brian Kasaine, Jacque Maribe’s neighbor at Royal Park estate in Lang’ata, testified as a prosecution witness before judge Grace Nzioka that Jowie, the first accused in Monica Kimani’s murder, shot himself.
During cross-examination by defense lawyers Katwa Kigen and Hassan Nandwa, counsel for Maribe and Jowie, respectively, Kasaine stated in court that Jowie, who had previously borrowed his firearm, had a falling out with his then-fiance Jacque Maribe before shooting himself.
“Irungu was lying down and he was bleeding I secured the firearm from the house, then I went and now took him to the hospital,” Kasaine said.
Kasaine also claimed that Jowie had contacted him via WhatsApp at 2 a.m. on September 20th, seeking paraffin to burn certain items.
The Monica Kimani murder trial started on Tuesday, and the prosecution has lined up eight more witnesses to appear on the 25th and 26th of October, as well as the 11th and 15th of November.
