Monkey Throws 4-month Baby Off 3-storey Building

A four-month-old baby died after being taken from his parents and thrown from a three-story building in India.

Nirdesh Upadhyay and his wife are believed to have been calming their wailing baby on their third-floor roof terrace in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh.

A troop of monkeys then clambered up to the roof from the neighbourhood and surrounded the family.

“It was getting dark. We were actually preparing for my elder son’s birthday. My younger son started crying, so I took him to the terrace,” Nirdesh told the Indian Times.

“After a while, some monkeys jumped from another roof and two of them attacked me.”

Nirdesh, who was carrying the baby, tried unsuccessfully to drive the primates away, and the two parents began fleeing towards the stairs.

According to reports, the newborn dropped from his hands, and before he could hold the youngster, a monkey seized him and hurled him off the roof.

“One of them seemed to be leading the troop and grabbed my son. I screamed for help and then rushed down to find my son spattered in blood,” he lamented.

His other family members who ran up to the terrace in a bid to help him were also attacked by the gang of monkeys.

Authorities in the region are now seeking to move the primates following the rising attacks on people, especially children as investigations into the incident are underway.
