Moses Kuria Fires Back— You Stole Uhuru’s Sheep

Former Economic Advisor to President William Ruto, Moses Kuria, has fired back at ex-Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, who accused him and Deputy President Kithure Kindiki of funding violence during the recent Gen Z-led protests in Kenya.

Speaking during an interview in Boston, USA, Gachagua alleged that Kuria and Kindiki channeled funds through former Mungiki leader Maina Njenga to orchestrate chaos.

He further claimed the two leaders were being used by President Ruto to weaken unity in the Mt. Kenya region.

“The recent violence was organised by Soprano (Kindiki) and Moses Kuria. Kuria never resigned from anything he was deployed to scatter the mountain,” said Gachagua. “These people are being used by Ruto to destroy their own people.”

In a sharp response on social media platform X, Kuria did not deny the claims. Instead, he turned the accusations around, stating he was “guilty as charged,” adding that Gachagua himself taught him the tactic.

“Rigathi Gachagua has accused me… of funding and supporting Maina Njenga. I am guilty as charged. I learnt from the best,” Kuria wrote. “I was in the room when Rigathi paid the same people to steal Uhuru Kenyatta’s goats from Northlands.”

Kuria’s statement refers to the 2023 attack on former President Kenyatta’s Northlands property, which occurred during Azimio-led anti-government protests — a politically sensitive episode still fresh in public memory.

The tit-for-tat exchange has escalated tensions within the Kenya Kwanza alliance and deepened divisions in the Mt. Kenya political bloc. Neither Kindiki nor the State House has responded to the claims at the time of publishing.
