Moses Kuria Warns of Alleged Plot to Disrupt Rigathi Gachagua’s Embu Campaign Tour

Former Public Service Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria has claimed that there is a plot to disrupt former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s campaign tour in Mbeere North, Embu County.

In a statement on Tuesday, November 11, Kuria alleged that goons dressed in the Chama Cha Kazi (CCK) uniforms would cause chaos during the tour.

According to Kuria, the goons are planning to demand Ksh10 million from Gachagua, which he was allegedly given by CCK’s Mbeere North candidate Duncan Mbui.

“Dear IEBC. It has come to the attention of Chama Cha Kazi that some UDA functionaries are planning to disrupt H.E. Rigathi Gachagua’s campaign tour dressed in CCK uniforms.

“They will also demand Ksh10 Million, which Hon Gachagua allegedly took from our candidate Hon Duncan Mbui,” Kuria claimed.

The former Presidential advisor clarified that Gachagua does not owe any money to Mbui.

Further, Kuria emphasized that his party has taken a zero-tolerance stance against electoral violence.

“More importantly, CCK had taken a zero-tolerance position on electoral violence, having witnessed what happened in 2007-2008,” said Kuria.

He added, “This is a position of deep principle, and nothing on earth will make us depart from this position. We continue to urge IEBC to take these matters seriously, as what will happen on November 27th is a harbinger of what will happen on 10th August 2027.”

This comes days after Kuria criticized IEBC following the release of a threatening video targeting Gachagua ahead of his tour to Mbeere North.

In a statement on Monday, November 10, Kuria questioned whether the 2027 elections would be conducted fairly, expressing his concerns after raising the matter with the Electoral Operations Commissioner on several occasions without any action being taken.

“Dear IEBC. Is this how 2027 will be? I have raised this with your Electoral Operations Commissioner several times.

“No action. Elections are a process, not an event. Mbeere North is currently the property of IEBC, not the state. The buck stops with you. Your staple food is public confidence,” Kuria wrote.

Kuria was responding to a viral video showing a group of four individuals issuing threats against Gachagua, who is scheduled to visit the constituency on November 16 to campaign for the Democratic Party candidate Newton Karish.
