Moses Kuria’s Chama Cha Kazi, 5 Other Parties Fold To Join Ruto’s UDA

President William Ruto received a major boost on Tuesday after six Kenya Kwanza Alliance affiliate parties merged with the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party.

In a statement, UDA Secretary General Cleophas Malala welcomed the parties to UDA, saying the party is committed to rewriting the “tradition of political parties being episodic”.

The parties are led by Chama Cha Kazi (CCK), which is well known for being chaired by Trade Cabinet Secretary (CS) Moses Kuria, and Chama Cha Mashinani (CCM), which is led by Isaac Ruto.

Others include the Umoja na Maendeleo party, led by former Embu governor Martin Wambora, the National Agenda Party of Kenya (Alfayo Agufana), the Farmers Party (Irungu Nyakera), and the Economic Freedom Party ( Issack Hassan Abey).

“From today, the parties present here are no longer partners but part of the UDA family,” Malala said.

Malala emphasized that the parties had pledged their unconditional support to the Kenya Kwanza Administration’s efforts to unite all Kenyans and ensure political stability in the country.

“The leaders and representatives of these parties have unconditionally agreed to provide political tranquillity in Kenya and support the Kenya Kwanza Administration in bringing all Kenyans together so that President William Ruto’s manifesto to Kenyans can be achieved,” he said.

Malala further urged party leaders to rope in their members to take up their active role in building the party.

He also lauded them for making the “selfless decision” assuring them that they have made a noble decision.

“My brothers, you will not regret this bold decision,” he said.
