Police in Murang’a County have arrested a suspect believed to be behind a series of motorcycle thefts that have recently plagued Ithanga/Kakuzi Sub-County and nearby areas.

The suspect was apprehended on October 10, 2025, following a well-coordinated operation conducted by officers from Ithanga Police Station and Rubiru Police Post. The arrest followed an intensive investigation into multiple reports of stolen motorcycles in the region.

During interrogation, the suspect led officers to a hideout where a dismantled motorcycle and several parts were recovered. Further searches at his residences uncovered additional suspected stolen property, including electronics and assorted motorcycle components.

Police confirmed that the suspect is currently in custody and will be arraigned in court once investigations are finalized.

In a statement, the National Police Service (NPS) commended the officers for their diligence and swift response, noting that their coordinated efforts led to the successful recovery of stolen items and the disruption of ongoing theft activities in the area.

Authorities have urged members of the public to remain vigilant and continue reporting suspicious activities to help curb rising cases of motorcycle theft in the county.
