Before Chief Magistrate Micheni Wendy, the suspect pleads with court to allow out of court settlement after being charged with assaulting a police officer in line of duty.
Martin Waitima was arraigned at Milimani Law courts today and charged with assaulting a police constable namely Mark Kirimi Muriara.
The said assault occurred on 17th March 2022 along Uhuru Highway in Nairobi. The accused engaged PC Mark Kirimi who was at the time acting in the due execution of his duties as a traffic police officer.
He overpowered the said police officer and assaulted him causing him bodily harm. This forced other police officers to intervene and arrest the accused.
He was arraigned in court and requested the court to give him time to compensate the complainant.
However, the court released him with a cash bail of Ksh 30,000.
The case will be mentioned on 1st April 2022 to confirm the settlement.
