Mourners Attack Kisumu Chief For Stopping ‘Disco Matanga’

A Kisumu County Chief is recovering from injuries sustained after being beaten by furious locals while attempting to stop a ‘disco matanga’ over the weekend in Nduru village.

Kawino South location Chief Michael Buodo received panga cuts after angry youths attacked him when he arrived at the vigil on Saturday night to stop them from playing loud music.

His attempt enraged the youths, who later turned on him, hacking him on the back, head, and right leg.

Buodo was later rushed to Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital (JOOTRH), where he was treated and discharged.

Chief Buodo told Ramogi FM on Tuesday morning that he is still in pain and that he has positively identified the rowdy youths who committed the crime.

According to Kadibo sub-county Deputy County Commissioner George Onyango, the incident is being investigated, and those responsible for the attack will be arrested and charged.
