MP Loses Ksh. 700,000 To Armed Robbers

A Member of Parliament (MP) from Nyandarua County was robbed of Sh700,000 by armed robbers in Nairobi on Monday, October 3.

The MP was carjacked on Waiyaki Way in Westlands and driven to Karen, where the suspects stole Sh700,000 in cash.

According to police, the lawmaker was returning home from a night out at a popular nightclub on James Gichuru Road.

According to the MP’s police statement, three armed robbers flagged him down on Waiyaki Way, forced their way into his car, and drove him to Karen, where they stole the money stashed under the driver’s seat.

“He was ordered to lower the car window down and the robber was joined by his two accomplices. The trio then forced their way into the vehicle ordering him to drive to Muthiga,” a police officer privy to the incident stated.

During the journey, he claimed he was blindfolded and confined to the rear passengers’ seat.

His ATM card was also stolen.

The robbers, who were accompanied by a getaway vehicle, abandoned the MP on Miotoni Road and fled in the vehicle behind.

“He was abandoned together with his vehicle as the robbers escaped in a getaway white Toyota Probox whose registration number was not taken,” the officer added.

The lawmaker reported the incident to Karen Police Station in the early hours of Monday, October 3, morning.

The matter is currently being investigated.
