MP Hon. Charles Nguna has launched the 2025/2026 bursary application exercise across Mwingi West Constituency, aiming to expand access to education for vulnerable students as schools reopen. The flag‑off was held in Migwani town on Monday.

Nguna announced that the application process will be conducted across all 22 locations in the constituency, enabling learners from disadvantaged backgrounds to seek financial support for the new academic year. Bursary programmes in Kenya, often administered through local offices, are designed to assist needy students with school fees and related costs, particularly those from low‑income households or vulnerable families.

In addition to the bursary rollout, the MP donated five tents (100‑seater) and 500 chairs to the Migwani location, to be managed by local administrative officers for use at community and educational events. These donations are intended to support public gatherings, local outreach and constituency services.

Speaking during the event, Nguna emphasised the importance of education as a fundamental tool for community development and urged residents to take full advantage of the bursary opportunities being made available.

Nationally, bursary schemes are a key component of Kenya’s education support framework, with both national and local structures in place to allocate funds fairly and transparently to eligible learners. The process typically involves collection of application forms at constituency offices and vetting by bursary committees before awards are made.
