The National Assembly overturned the Committee on Appointment’s decision to reject Peninah Malonza’s nomination as Tourism and Wildlife Cabinet Secretary on Wednesday, October 26.
Malonza’s nomination was rejected by a committee led by National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula on the grounds that she lacks the necessary abilities and experience to serve as CS for Tourism.
However, following a special motion tabled in the House, MPs approved the nomination of Malonza and 23 others on Wednesday.
Malonza’s approval bring to a conclusion the debate on the approval of President William Ruto’s cabinet.
All 24 nominees have successfully undergone the process of vetting and now await their swearing-in which will take place before the end of the week.
