Members of the National Assembly gathered at Ridgeways Baptist Church for a requiem mass in honour of the departed nominated MP Hamisi Denar Tui.
The Deputy Leader of the Majority Party, Owen Baya, led the delegation, which included colleagues from the Select Committee on National Cohesion and Equal Opportunity and the Clerk of the National Assembly, Samuel Njoroge.
The service brought together leaders, family and friends who paid tribute to a man many described as a dedicated public servant.
His wife Ellene Denar and their son Joseph Hamisi Denar shared personal reflections on the strong family foundation he built. Their tributes portrayed a devoted husband and father whose kindness stretched far beyond his home.
The former Chief of Defence Forces Samson Mwathethe remembered Denar as a man who cherished people from close friends to casual acquaintances.
He thanked Ellene Denar for supporting her husband throughout his years of service and urged mourners to continue standing with the family.
Legislators Liz Chelule, Irene Kasalu and Oku Kaunya praised Denar as a principled and respectful leader who carried himself with dignity in Parliament.
Former minister Naomi Shabaan described him as a true Duruma Duruma known for his practical approach and generous spirit. Former Cabinet Secretary Dan Kazungu highlighted Denar’s determination and drive, calling him an inspiration to many. Annah Gathecha Nyokabi recalled his sharp mind and enterprise focused vision.
Owen Baya conveyed messages of condolence from President William Ruto and Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi. He described Denar as an exceptional man who served with warmth, humility and purpose, and whose influence shaped the careers of many coastal leaders.
Samuel Njoroge paid tribute to Denar’s calm nature and philanthropic character, calling him a true gentleman. He reaffirmed Parliament’s commitment to support the family in line with its bereavement policy and delivered apologies from the Speaker, Moses Wetangula.
Hamisi Denar Tui was remembered as a leader of dignity and steadfast service whose legacy lives on in the communities he uplifted.
