Members of Parliament will finally begin moving into the multibillion-billion Bunge Towers in Nairobi tomorrow, Thursday, April 11.
According to National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula, the Parliamentary Service Commission (PSC) has determined that member offices will be ready for occupation by the end of this week.
“PSC is expediting the completion of the Bunge Tower in order to bridge the deficit in office accommodation for members,” said Watengula in a statement.
Phase two, which begins on July 1, 2024, will feature Continental House MPs occupying the tower. Wetangula emphasises that this will only apply to those who have received allocations.
The building, which sits adjacent to the parliament buildings, was supposed to be completed in three and a half years, but it is still under construction nearly fourteen years later.
The building, which cost Ksh.9.26 billion to construct, includes a gym, a beauty parlour and a restaurant for Kenyan legislators.
It will also have committee rooms where members can conduct their business.
