Mtwapa Traffic Police Officer Arrested With Over Ksh.13K in Bribe Money

A traffic police officer stationed in Mtwapa has been arrested by officers from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) over allegations of bribery.

The officer, identified as Mazera Haron, was apprehended on Tuesday morning following several days of surveillance by EACC officers. The arrest was carried out along the Mtwapa–Malindi Road, where the suspect was intercepted.

Upon his arrest, the officer was found in possession of Ksh 13,750, all in Ksh 100 denomination notes, which investigators believe to be proceeds of bribery.

He was subsequently taken to the EACC Upper Coast Regional offices in Malindi, where he is currently being held as investigations continue.

The arrest was confirmed by the EACC Deputy Regional Manager, who stated that the commission remains committed to cracking down on corruption within public institutions.
