Mudavadi Hails China’s 76 Years of Progress, Pledges Deeper Kenya-China Ties

Kenya’s Prime Cabinet Secretary and Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs, H.E. Dr. Musalia W. Mudavadi, has congratulated China on its 76th National Day.

In a statement delivered during the Chinese Embassy’s National Day celebrations in Nairobi, Mudavadi lauded President Xi Jinping, the Government, and the people of the People’s Republic of China for their extraordinary journey since the founding of the nation on October 1, 1949.

He highlighted China’s transformation from widespread poverty to a global economic powerhouse, citing its success in lifting millions out of poverty, achieving a moderately prosperous society, and assuming a key role in global peace and governance.

“China’s story is a true inspiration to nations across the world,” Mudavadi said, noting that Kenya deeply values its friendship with Beijing. He emphasized that the partnership between the two countries, nurtured through the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC), has delivered tangible benefits in trade, infrastructure, and cultural exchange.

The Prime Cabinet Secretary also praised the vibrant celebrations hosted by Ambassador Guo Haiyan and the Chinese Embassy in Nairobi, saying the event reflected not only the pride of the Chinese people but also the warmth of the Kenya-China relationship.

China’s National Day commemorates the proclamation of the People’s Republic of China by Chairman Mao Zedong on October 1, 1949, following the end of the Chinese Civil War.

Each year, the anniversary is marked with colorful festivities across China, including flag-raising ceremonies in Beijing’s Tiananmen Square, cultural performances, and public parades.

This year’s milestone comes at a time when China is asserting a greater global leadership role while continuing to deepen partnerships across Africa.

Mudavadi underscored Kenya’s readiness to build a “shared future” with China anchored in mutual respect, multilateralism, and sustainable growth for both nations.
