The Covid-19 pandemic has caused the postponement of the consecration of Diocese of Kitui Bishop.
Consequently, Nyeri Archbishop Anthony Muheria said the Episcopal Consecration of Very Rev. Fr. Joseph Mwongela will be celebrated on 29th August.
“We have also seen that the situation of the spread of the Covid-19 unfortunately continues to rise. In view of the pronouncement of His Excellency the President, and of other considerations, it has become clear that we can only hold our celebrations as planned on the 8 August, with a maximum of 100 people attending.” Bishop Muheria said.
It had initially been set for the 8th of August, but the steady rise in Covid-19 cases has necessitated the switch.
Muheria advised each of the Parish to delegate 25 individuals who will attend the event.
“In view of all these requirements, we are now requesting that only a delegation of 25 people per parish attend the occasion. ” he added.
“This change will certainly inconvenience many of you.. However we are living in very special times where we need to adjust constantly so as to make the best choices.”
