Kilifi Governor Gideon Mung’aro has asked the people of Kilifi and Kenyans at large to remain calm as the Supreme Court is expected to give its ruling on the Presidential petition on Monday.
Addressing the congregation when he attended church services at Pangani Methodist Church in Kambe/Ribe, Rabai sub-county, Governor Mung’aro said it was clear there is anxiety all over the country but expressed optimism that whatever the outcome, Kenya will remain a united country.
“I know there is a lot of anxiety currently because of the expected ruling tomorrow. But I want to ask my people in Kilifi and Kenyans at large to remain calm and wait for judgment. I know there is some discomfort amongst Kenyans but I believe in our institutions and hopefully, the outcome should not in any way divide this country,” he said.
Mr. Mung’aro further said that what most people should do on Monday is maybe stay around their televisions and watch the proceedings without causing any turmoil.
“Supreme Court is our Kenyan institution and let’s all wait for their verdict.
In his message, Reverend Charles Ngala of the Methodist church also called for peace during this time when almost everyone is waiting for the Supreme court to issue its judgment on the Presidential petition.
Among those present included Kambe/Ribe MCA Elect Kubo, his Ruruma counterpart Naphtal Kombo and former area MCA Valentine Matsaki.
