Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has launched a bold crackdown on rogue employment agencies and fraudsters operating in Eldoret, warning that their days are numbered.
Speaking during a public address at Eldoret’s Central Business District, Murkomen assured residents that the government would not tolerate conmen who exploit desperate youth seeking employment and education opportunities abroad. He said the purge would be completed within two weeks, as directed by President William Ruto.
“There will be no sacred cows in this fight,” Murkomen declared. “No illegal agency will survive, regardless of who protects them. Even those hiding under police protection will be exposed.”
The CS also issued a stern warning to police officers allegedly shielding the illegal operations, saying they risk immediate dismissal.
Murkomen was speaking during the Jukwaa la Usalama (Security Forum) meeting, which also addressed concerns raised by police officers in Uasin Gishu County regarding stalled promotions, poor terms of service, and inadequate healthcare provisions.
Local residents used the forum to voice growing concerns about insecurity and rising fraud in Eldoret, calling for decisive government action. They also urged leaders to initiate dialogue with youth as a strategy to defuse recent protests seen across the country.
Murkomen promised continued government engagement with communities, emphasizing that security and opportunity must go hand in hand to ensure stability and progress.
